25th Herbal Drug Raw Materials Meeting (BIHAT) Held in Northern Cyprus

The 25th Herbal Drug Raw Materials Meeting (BIHAT) was held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, hosted by the Near East University Faculty of Pharmacy. This prestigious event, which has been organized biennially since 1976, was conducted for the first time in Northern Cyprus. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Herbal Drugs from Tradition to the Future,” focusing on introducing high value-added products derived from natural resources to science and society.

The meeting featured 12 invited talks, 17 oral presentations, and 42 poster presentations, with 80 participants from the pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical botany departments of pharmacy faculties in Turkey and Cyprus. BIHAT serves as a prominent scientific platform for experts in fields such as botany, ethnobotany, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and industrial applications, contributing significantly to research on herbal drug raw materials. The logo of BIHAT, featuring a daisy, was designed by Prof. Dr. İhsan Çalış and has been used since 1978.
