3rd International Medical Students Congress Opens with Strong Participation at Near East University

The opening of the 3rd International Medical Students Congress, “Habitat Cyprus 2025,” was held with high participation at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center. Organized by the Near East University Faculty of Medicine and the Student Dean’s Office, the congress focused on bridging the gap between nature and health.


The first day of the event featured three sessions. Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören addressed the topic “Planet and Lease Agreement,” while Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu discussed “Marine Ecosystems and Public Health,” highlighting the connection between environmental issues and public health. The second session included student presentations, with Dima Mestarihi discussing skin cancer rates in Northern Cyprus, Noushika Sahandifar examining the impact of environmental factors on stroke, and Mohammadsadegh Jafari exploring the effects of mold on child health. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Taylan closed the sessions with a talk on “Increased Bed Bug Infestations in Turkey.” The day concluded with poster and project presentations, where participants showcased their research.
