The Medical Students Association of Northern Cyprus (MSANC) represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) at the 72nd International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) meeting held in Estonia. Aysu Özbek, Vice President for Foreign Affairs, and Kağan Demirbaş, Research Exchange Officer, showcased TRNC's medical prowess and collaborative initiatives on an international platform attended by 151 countries.
At the event, MSANC delegates engaged with medical students from diverse corners of the globe, fostering knowledge exchange and networking. They showcased their activities, projects, and presented the advancements at the Near East University Hospital and the TRNC. Aysu Özbek highlighted their commitment to IFMSA's mission, stating, “We continue our studies without slowing down as full members of IFMSA for three years.”
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent TRNC, Özbek emphasized, “We had the chance to share our endeavors in the TRNC and connect with medical students worldwide. The Internship Exchange Fair allowed us to build strong relations, anticipating increased hosting of exchange students in TRNC.”
Sara Darweesh, President of MSANC, lauded the support of Near East University’s Dean of Students Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz and faculty, expressing pride in representing TRNC medical students.
Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz commended the students for their representation at the IFMSA meeting, highlighting NEU's commitment to fostering excellence in medical education. “We take pride in our students' active participation, connecting TRNC’s medical community with the global stage,” said Prof. Dr. Yavuz, emphasizing the university's continuous support for students' international engagements.
