Taking place on December 3rd, World Disability Day, the symposium covered diverse topics in public sessions, including “Women, Children, and Disability: Social Life Panel,” “Inter-Institutional Collaboration within the Scope of Quality of Life and Sustainable Development Goals,” and “Women Entrepreneurship and Social Life Panel.”
The event saw notable participation, with speakers including Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak (Vice President of Girne University), Doç. Dr. Emete Toros (60+ Renewal University Lecturer at Girne University), Prof. Dr. Şerife Eyüpoğlu (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Near East University), and various other academic and professional figures.
Throughout the symposium, sessions moderated by Assist Prof. Dr. Şahin Akdağ and Assist. Prof. Dr. Menil Çelebi delved into the theme of “Reducing Inequalities.” Topics such as “Disability and Health,” “Disability and Tourism,” “Physical, Architectural Access,” “Accessibility,” “Rights and Law,” “Employment,” and “Dormitories, Accommodation Services” were explored.
The discussions weren’t confined to theory; practical examples and solutions were presented, emphasizing the importance of addressing issues faced by women, children, and disabled individuals in societal life. A charity bazaar for the Kemal Saraçoğlu Leukemia Children and Cancer Fight Foundation was organized during the symposium.
The concluding part witnessed the signing of a collaboration protocol between the Near East University Social Research and Development Center and the Sakarya Entrepreneur Women’s Association.
The symposium provided a platform for in-depth discussions, sharing concrete examples, and promoting collaborative efforts to enhance the lives of individuals across various segments of society.
