11th TRNC Barrier-Free Informatics Days Promotes Inclusive Technological Access

The 11th TRNC Barrier-Free Informatics Days, a collaborative initiative by the Presidential Disabled Persons Committee, Near East University, Manisa Celal Bayar University, TRNC Barrier-Free Informatics Platform, and Turkey Barrier-Free Informatics Platform, was successfully organized to advocate for inclusive technological access. The event, hosted at the Near East University İrfan Günsel Congress Center, aimed to ensure that individuals with diverse physical or cognitive disabilities can effectively access technological resources such as computers and the internet.

The vision meeting, presided over by Near East University Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, witnessed the participation of esteemed figures including President Ersin Tatar, Manisa Celal Bayar University Rector Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar, TRNC Presidential Disabled Persons Committee Chairman Ahmet Akdeniz, and others. The meeting featured sessions addressing various aspects of barrier-free informatics, including successful applications in Turkey, the Alo 123 Demand Management System, accessible applications, artificial intelligence-supported digital accessibility solutions, and the process of barrier-free informatics studies in TRNC.

The opening speeches, delivered by President Ersin Tatar, Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, Prof. Dr. Rana Kibar, Dr. Mustafa Özhan Kalaç (Turkey Barrier-Free Informatics Platform Coordinator), Ahmet Akdeniz (TRNC Presidential Disabled Persons Committee Chairman), and Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay (Near East University Social Research and Development Center President), set the tone for the day-long event.

Throughout the discussions, emphasis was placed on successful applications, digital accessibility solutions, and the ongoing efforts in TRNC towards barrier-free informatics. The event served as a platform for sharing insights, fostering collaboration, and promoting the importance of accessible technology for individuals with disabilities. The collaborative efforts of the involved institutions aim to contribute to the ongoing advancements in barrier-free informatics on both national and international levels.
