The symposium aimed to underscore the universal right of every individual to an equal, free, and dignified life, devoid of discrimination. Speakers emphasized the historical evolution and current practices of human rights, fostering discussions on vital topics such as freedom of expression, women’s rights, children’s rights, and data security in the context of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The first session, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çıraklı, featured 18 papers presented by legal experts, including Lawyers Cemre İpciler and Cansu N. Nazlı, Near East University Faculty of Law Lecturer Dr. Ayten Erçoban, and Eastern Mediterranean University Faculty of Law Lecturer Assist. Prof. Dr. Can Azer.
Subsequent sessions, moderated by various experts, delved into critical subjects such as the Israeli-Palestinian War within the framework of international law, labor rights, the right to education, human trafficking, international anarchy, torture, disabled rights, legal aid mechanisms, taxation, and the right to notification.
The symposium aimed not only to analyze current challenges but also, in this context, to inspire heightened awareness and responsibility for human rights at individual and organizational levels.
