Supported by the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Secondary Education and the Directorate of Educational Common Services, ICIER 2024 was themed around “Inclusive Education and Accessibility.” With a significant turnout, the conference brought together experts from the field from not only the Northern Cyprus but also from Turkey, Kazakhstan, and China.
Emphasizing the significance of inclusive education and accessibility in education, the conference delved into the latest research, innovations, and effective implementation strategies. Under the scope of ICIER 2024, which discussed the impact of inclusive and accessible education on students and societal well-being, a workshop session addressed various topics aligned with sustainable development goals.
Over the span of three dynamic days, with 54 paper presentations, 5 workshop sessions, and over 100 participants, the three-day conference featured invited speakers from the field of educational sciences, alongside numerous online presentations. Opening speeches were delivered successively by Prof. Dr. Yağmur Çerkez, the Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education at Near East University, Prof. Dr. K. Hüsnü Can Başer, the Director of the Graduate School of Education, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, and Cengiz Topel Uzun, the Director of the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Secondary Education.
Following the opening speeches, Dr. Gainiya Tazhina from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Dr. Xiangling Zhang from Beijing Normal University presented online. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Çakır from Kapadokya University delivered a presentation titled “Inclusivity in Contemporary Art and Its Implications for Art Education.”
The conference’s final day featured five workshop sessions tailored for teachers, academics, and teacher candidates. These workshops, which were free of charge and open to the public, covered various topics, including “Strategic Planning for Inclusive Education,” “Sustainable Development and Education in Practice,” “Interdisciplinary Scientific Research and Reporting,” “Accessibility and Education,” and “Individual Differences in Learning and Instructional Practices,” all in line with sustainable development objectives.
