Awareness Seminar on Peer Bullying Held for Middle School Students

An awareness seminar on peer bullying was organized for 7th-grade students of Bayraktar Middle School by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şengül Başarı from the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department at Near East University’s Faculty of Education.

The seminar focused on the definition of peer bullying, its types, roles, and the appropriate actions for both the bully and the victim. Students participated actively in various activities throughout the session, engaging deeply with the topic.

Bibliotherapy techniques were also used, with scenarios and stories designed to raise students’ awareness about bullying. The aim was to increase their sensitivity to the issue, enhance their empathy, and help them better understand the impact of bullying. The seminar successfully fostered an environment of learning and reflection, promoting a deeper understanding of how to address and prevent bullying in school settings.
