Cultural Heritage Training for Children

Academics from Near East University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education provided a meaningful training session to students of the Cyprus Turkish Child Protection Agency, focusing on the importance of cultural heritage. The event was led by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, Head of the Turkish Language Teaching Department, and Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut, Vice Head of the Social Sciences and Turkish Language Education Department.

The interactive 90-minute session was attended by approximately 35 students from the fourth and fifth grades. The children were introduced to the concept of cultural heritage and the unique cultural elements of Cyprus through vivid examples and engaging storytelling.

Following the training, students reflected on what they learned by creating original texts and drawings, expressing their thoughts and emotions. These creative outputs will be used as part of a future academic study, offering insight into how children perceive and internalize cultural heritage. The event highlighted the role of education in preserving and passing cultural values to future generations.
