
As part of the “Periodic Conferences” series organized by the Near East University DESAM Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Öztürk discussed how synthetic biology will shape the future. Known for his significant research in molecular biology and cancer genetics, Prof. Öztürk highlighted how synthetic biology strengthens the connection between science, industry, and society.

Held at Near East University Hospital, the conference provided an important platform for fostering academic and industrial collaboration. Prof. Öztürk, who continues his research at the Faculty of Medicine, is also leading projects at the newly established Near East University Synthetic Biology Research and Technology Center in Northern Cyprus.

During his speech, he emphasized that synthetic biology plays a crucial role in healthcare, agriculture, environmental technologies, and biomaterials development. He predicted that its influence in these fields will continue to grow, driving innovations that will transform various industries.
