The practical integration of sustainability into hotel operations was discussed at an event organized by the Near East University Faculty of Tourism at the Concorde Tower Hotel. Titled “Sustainability and Integration of Sustainable Development Goals in Hotel Businesses,” the event aimed to strengthen sustainability awareness within the tourism sector.
During the event, Prof. Dr. Nesrin M. Bahçelerli, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, delivered a presentation to hotel employees, emphasizing that the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are not only global commitments but also practical frameworks applicable to daily business operations. Highlighting that Near East University ranks 43rd globally in SDG impact according to Times Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Bahçelerli discussed energy efficiency, responsible resource use, environmental responsibility, and social sustainability through sector-based examples. She underlined that embedding sustainability awareness across all staff levels enhances service quality and supports the long-term competitiveness of hotel businesses.
