“Milk Workshop from Farm to Table” Workshop Held with High Participation

The Veterinary Research Group from Near East University DESAM Research Institute organized the “Milk Workshop from Farm to Table” at İrfan Günsel Congress Center. The workshop aimed to raise quality and safety standards in milk production and to propose solutions for improving hygiene and health conditions throughout the milk production process. Key topics discussed included “Milk Production Capacity in TRNC,” “The Role of the Farmer in the Milk Production Chain in TRNC,” “The Role of the Veterinary Office in Safe Milk Production in TRNC,” and “PDO Milk Production and Market Offering in TRNC.”

The all-day workshop brought together numerous milk producers, food safety experts, and academics. Officials from the Veterinary Department, Turkish Cypriot Dairy Industry Association, Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry, and KOOP Dairy attended, along with many employees from Kyrenia Municipality, Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, and Değirmenlik Municipality. The event commenced with opening speeches by Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş, Dean of Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Serhan Özverel, Director of Near East University DESAM Research Institute.

Following the opening speeches, presentations were given by key academics. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz, Deputy Dean of Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, spoke on “Hygienic Farm Practices in Safe Milk Production.” Prof. Dr. Beyza Ulusoy, Head of Food Hygiene and Technology Department, discussed “Public Health Hazards in Milk and Dairy Products.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hoca, Head of Nutrition and Dietetics Department, highlighted “The Importance of Milk in Human Nutrition.”

Participants suggested increasing hygiene practices in milk production, enhancing control measures in the production process, and implementing standards to protect consumer health.
