The Atatürk Faculty of Education’s Department of Art Education at Near East University, in collaboration with the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality Women’s Shelter, hosted a meaningful workshop titled “Kendí Renklerimle Yeniden” (Reborn with My Own Colors). The workshop, took place on October 25, November 1, and November 8, 2024, and focused on the healing power of art.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Miralay, the workshop brought together five women participants at the Women’s Shelter. The artistic sessions included Mandala and Zentangle, two techniques designed to promote inner peace, concentration, and creative expression. Mandala art provided participants with a tool to find balance and tranquility, while Zentangle encouraged them to explore creativity through simple lines, helping improve focus and attention.

The workshop allowed participants to experience the positive effects of creative expression and art therapy. At the end of the sessions, the participants shared how much they enjoyed the process and how it positively impacted both their personal development and group dynamics. The event highlighted the importance of such initiatives in empowering women, helping them express themselves, and supporting their healing and strengthening journeys.
