Near East University and National Citrus Council to Collaborate on Citrus Innovation and Research

Near East University Faculty of Agriculture and the Turkish National Citrus Council (UTK) have announced a new collaboration to enhance citrus production through scientific research, innovation, and farmer training. A high-level UTK delegation, including President Kemal Kaçmaz, visited Near East University and met with Founding Rector Dr. Suat İrfan Günsel. The delegation also included leaders from the Mediterranean Citrus Producers Association, Cyprus Turkish Citrus Exporters Association, Interfresh EuroAsia, and Cypfruvex Turkey.

During the visit, both parties agreed to initiate joint projects in areas such as the use of advanced agricultural technologies, sustainable production methods, R&D activities, and education programs for citrus producers. The goal is to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality in the citrus sector through science-based solutions. At the end of the visit, Kaçmaz presented a plaque to Dr. Günsel in recognition of the partnership.
