Near East University Collaborated with Ministry of Labour for Psychosocial Support Program at Nicosia Children’s Shelter

Near East University, in collaboration with the Social Research and Development Center and the Faculty of Atatürk Education, partnered with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Department of Social Services, and Nicosia Children’s Shelter in Northern Cyprus.

Under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şebnem Güldal Kan, a faculty member of the Department of Preschool Education and a member of the Social Research and Development Center at the Near East University’s Faculty of Atatürk Education, the first psychosocial support module was conducted with the participation of 5 volunteer students studying preschool education. The aim of this module, titled “Children at Risk and Education,” was to facilitate effective communication with children through various activities, under the leadership and guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şebnem Güldal Kan.

During the psychosocial education process, the participants engaged in introductory activities and the “Magic Wand” game to spend enjoyable time with the children, aiming to establish effective communication. The event, which witnessed active participation from the children, concluded with obtaining feedback from the participants.
