Near East University Hospital’s Medical Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory has introduced a breakthrough in the TRNC by launching Third Generation DNA Sequence Analysis, enabling rapid, affordable, and high-precision genetic testing for single gene disorders, rare or hard-to-diagnose diseases, complex conditions, and cancer.

 

Previously sent abroad, these analyses can be completed within days at Near East University Hospital, marking a significant advance for local healthcare. The initiative uses cutting-edge technology from Switzerland-based 4Bases CE-IVD and the UK’s Oxford Nanopore Technologies, setting a new standard for molecular genetic diagnostics in the region. Following the system’s installation, healthcare professionals attended an information session to learn more about its applications.
