As part of “Prostate Cancer Awareness Month” held between March 1-31, Near East University Hospitals, in cooperation with the Cancer Patients Assistance Association (KHYD), provided free PSA tests to 898 individuals across the island. This initiative aimed to promote early diagnosis and awareness of prostate cancer. Nearly 100 individuals were identified as being at risk and were referred for further examination.

Screenings were conducted at various locations, including Near East University Hospital, Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia University Hospital, and Near East University Yeniboğaziçi Hospital, with mobile health vehicles also offering PSA testing in markets across the island. The most significant participation came from Famagusta, where around 500 people were tested, with 42 found to be at risk.

These screenings highlight the importance of early detection, particularly in diseases like prostate cancer, where symptoms may not appear until later stages. Early diagnosis is crucial in increasing treatment success rates.
