Near East University Hosts Symposium on Childhood Obesity: Exploring Complications and Nutritional Treatment Approaches

The symposium on “Childhood Obesity: Common Complications and Nutritional Treatment Approach” took place on December 6, 2023, Wednesday, with significant participation. The event was organized through a collaboration between Near East University, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Near East University Hospital. Co-chaired by Pediatric Health and Diseases Specialist and Faculty Member of the Medical School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neşe Akcan, and Pediatric Dietitian and Faculty Member of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taygun Dayı, the symposium was held under the honorary chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Gülden Köksal, a retired Pediatric Dietitian from Hacettepe University Hospital.

The symposium, which focused on childhood obesity, its prevalent complications, and nutritional treatment approaches, drew active participation from numerous universities across the island. The collaborative effort aimed to address the critical issues surrounding childhood obesity and foster interdisciplinary discussions for effective prevention and management strategies.
