Near East University Hosts Symposium on Multidisciplinary Approach to Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation

The “Multidisciplinary Approach to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Rehabilitation Symposium,” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, took place on April 29, 2024. The symposium was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuba Yerlikaya and Specialist Physiotherapist Yelda Kıngır Soykurt.

 

Held at the İrfan Günsel Congress Center with substantial attendance, the event featured three sessions, hosting eight speakers and six session chairs. The symposium addressed critical aspects of MS and highlighted the challenges of living with the condition in Northern Cyprus.

 

Speakers included Neurologist Dr. Sıla Usar İncirli, who provided insights on MS from a neurological perspective, and representatives from the Cyprus Turkish MS Association, who discussed living with MS in Northern Cyprus. Other topics included cognition in MS, respiratory rehabilitation, pelvic floor dysfunctions, balance, and technological approaches. The event underscored the importance of collaboration in MS rehabilitation and provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge on improving the quality of life for those affected.
