In response to the recent earthquakes in Turkey, Near East University and its medical aid team, comprised of 10 doctors and emergency medicine specialists from Near East Enterprises Hospitals, are actively engaging to provide comprehensive support to the affected regions.
Departing from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the medical team is en route to the earthquake zone, aiming to bolster search and rescue operations and deliver vital medical assistance. Upon reaching Adana, the team will be strategically dispatched to areas in urgent need.
Simultaneously, Near East University has initiated a blood donation and winter clothing aid campaign for earthquake victims. Blood donations are being accepted at Near East University Hospital, Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, and Near East University Yeniboğaziçi Hospital. Winter clothing and blanket donations can be contributed at the Near East University Atatürk Culture and Congress Center, ensuring immediate delivery to the disaster-stricken areas.
Prof. Dr. Müfit C. Yenen, Chief Physician of Near East University Hospital, expressed deep sorrow for the earthquake disaster and emphasized the institution's commitment to SDGs. "Our medical team, consisting of doctors and emergency medicine specialists, will exert every effort in the region to assist our earthquake victims," he stated.
This comprehensive approach, integrating medical aid with sustainable development initiatives, reflects Near East University's commitment to contributing to the global agenda of SDGs while addressing the immediate needs of those affected by the earthquake in Turkey.
