Near East University Launches Year-Long Barrier-Free Cinema Festival

The first film screening of the “Barrier-Free Cinema Festival,” organized by the Near East University Faculty of Communication at the Barrier-free Cinema and Activity Center, was met with great excitement. The inaugural event, held in collaboration with Telsim, welcomed students from Algım Special Education Center, who enjoyed watching the animated film “Maya the Bee.”

The event was coordinated by Ufuk Altunç, a lecturer in the Near East University Public Relations and Publicity Department, and witnessed strong participation. Attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Dolunay, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Telsim General Manager Sefer Tüz, Telsim Deputy General Manager Fevzi Tanpınar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamil Kanipek, Head of the Public Relations and Publicity Department, Evren Karademir, Founding Manager of Algım Special Education Institutions, and Nil Zorlu Atai, Telsim Corporate Communications Manager.

The “Barrier-Free Cinema Festival” is designed to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with special needs, encouraging their active participation in social life. The festival, set to run for a year, will offer free screenings of entertaining films. Individuals with special needs can attend these screenings either through their schools or by making individual appointments. To enhance their experience, participants will be treated to popcorn and drinks during the screenings.
