A new multifunctional birth ball has been developed through a collaboration between the Near East University Health Sciences Faculty Midwifery Department and NEU3D Laboratory. Designed to alleviate back and genital area pain during childbirth, the innovative ball aims to shorten delivery times and enhance the birthing experience for pregnant women.

Severe back and abdominal pain are common complaints during normal births, often leading to fear and avoidance of natural delivery. This newly designed birth ball integrates various functions, allowing for active movements like walking, sitting, and bouncing, which have been shown to reduce labor duration. Additionally, the device incorporates features for warming the genital area through massages, further alleviating birth pain.

The birth ball, developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Betül Mammadov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Mammadov, and Dr. Görkem Say, has been officially registered as a “Utility Model” by the Turkish Patent Institute, ensuring the protection of its innovative design.
