Nurturing Minds, Inspiring Futures: Near East Museums' Educational Journey in Northern Cyprus

Near East Enterprises Museums actively engages with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) schools to foster educational experiences. Famagusta Çanakkale Secondary School became the week's distinguished guest in a recent initiative. A group of 35 students, accompanied by their teachers, explored various attractions within the Near East University Campus, including the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, the Cyprus Car Museum, the Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, and the Innovation and Information Technologies Center. The students enjoyed their visit and gained insights into the inspiring realms of art, culture, and science.

With the inclusion of Famagusta Çanakkale Secondary School, the cumulative number of students hosted by the Near East Enterprises Museums has surpassed a thousand in the last two months. Looking ahead, the Museums are committed to extending this initiative, continuing to introduce young minds in the TRNC to the enriching influence of art.

During their visit to the Cyprus Museum of Modern Arts, students embarked on a cultural tour, immersing themselves in a diverse collection of paintings and sculptures crafted by artists from 14 Turkish nations. The Cyprus Car Museum, renowned for its extensive automobile collection, captivated the students with its array of toys made from various machine parts, model cars, pedal cars, and iconic figures like Batman and Transformers.

The students' curiosity remained palpable as they explored the Herbarium and Natural History Museum. Here, they delved into the natural history of Cyprus through an impressive display of 11,000 plant specimens, mushroom varieties, insect species, reptiles, sea creatures, fossils, and rocks – all under one roof. The visit provided an educational experience and moments of enjoyment for the students, most of whom were from primary school.

Venturing into the Innovation and Information Technologies Center on the Near East University campus, the students witnessed the transformative power of technology. They conducted on-site examinations of artificial intelligence and robotics studies, exploring cutting-edge facilities such as the supercomputer and NEU3D Laboratory. The 7th-year students from Çanakkale Secondary School left with a deeper understanding of technology's capabilities, capturing their experience through numerous photographs. The Museums are dedicated to nurturing this intersection of education, culture, and technology for the benefit of the young generation.
