Campus Dining at Near East University: Healthy, Affordable, and Locally Inspired

Near East University's campus is equipped with a variety of dining facilities designed to cater to diverse dietary needs. The campus boasts the Central Cafeteria, Faculty Cafeteria, Hospital Cafeteria, and other dining units, collectively having the capacity to serve up to 4,500 people simultaneously. These establishments offer students, staff, and external visitors high-quality and budget-friendly food and beverages.

Within the campus premises, a total of 42 cafeterias and cafes are open to the public, promoting a culture of healthy eating. These dining options encompass a wide range of meal choices, including vegetarian alternatives, and prioritize the provision of balanced, nutritious meals for all.

In line with our commitment to sustainable food systems and healthy nutrition, the meat products used across our campus restaurants and cafeterias are sourced from Havva Hanım Farm, operated in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Near East University. This partnership ensures that the products are locally produced under high animal welfare and food safety standards. By relying on in-house production, the university supports traceability, reduces transportation-related emissions, and promotes a healthier and more environmentally conscious food supply chain.

In support of health-conscious choices, products developed by the Innovative Food Production Center of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine—such as probiotic ayran, yogurt, kefir varieties, marmalade, and fermented apple vinegar—are made available across campus cafeterias and İkas Supermarket, offering the community access to locally produced, functional food products.

Our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility is reflected in our sourcing and packaging. Cafeterias and cafes on campus prefer local suppliers for meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit to promote regional sustainability. Additionally, wooden cutlery, paper bags, and eco-friendly cups are used across dining areas to reduce plastic waste.
