As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Near East University Hospital, in collaboration with the Cancer Patients Aid Association, has launched “Breast Cancer Awareness Education Seminars” in public schools to highlight the importance of early detection. The first seminar was held at 20 Temmuz Science High School, where students and teachers learned about breast cancer symptoms, early diagnosis methods, and the importance of regular check-ups.
During the session, Hospital Training Nurse Şenay Evren Öztaşlı explained the development of cancer and emphasized that early detection saves lives. She encouraged students to perform regular self-examinations, noting that “recognizing changes in your body is the first step to protecting your health.” Öztaşlı also highlighted healthy lifestyle habits, including daily physical activity, balanced nutrition, and avoiding smoking and alcohol. The seminar included a practical demonstration of self-breast examination techniques.
