Seed balls prepared from seeds of various plant species were released into nature during an environmental awareness event organized by the Near East University Sustainability Student Club. Based on the idea that reconnecting with nature can begin with a single seed, the event brought together students, academics, and nature enthusiasts, with the participation of members of the Dağdoğan Hiking Academy.
In the first stage, participants mixed seeds such as date palm, cherry, apricot, olive, carob, oak, juniper, and almond with soil and natural fertilizer, preparing hundreds of seed balls. This collective effort not only supported ecological sustainability but also created a space for dialogue and shared learning on environmental responsibility.
The seed balls were later planted along the stream bed in the Tepebaşı Yorgoz Başpınar region. Guided by Dağdoğan Sadrazam, participants received information about the local ecosystem, vegetation, and the area’s historical and geographical characteristics. The event concluded with a cleanup activity, participants demonstrated their sense of responsibility towards nature by collecting plastic waste in the surrounding area using the cloth bags and buckets in which the seed balls were carried.
