Special Education Students of Near East University Create Awareness at Demirhan Rehabilitation Center

As part of the Community Service Practices course, students from the Near East University Special Education Teaching Department, under the coordination of Department Head Prof. Dr. Mukaddes Sakallı Demirok and Lecturer Nurcan Kaya, organized an event with the students of the Demirhan Engelsiz Yaşam Evi and Rehabilitation Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security’s Department of Social Services.

During the event, teacher candidates and individuals with special educational needs came together to plant flowers and trees in the garden of the rehabilitation center. The activity not only created a shared sense of purpose but also aimed to contribute to the emotional development of every individual involved, as each flower and sapling symbolized unity and growth.

Prof. Dr. Mukaddes Sakallı Demirok emphasized the importance of such activities, stating, “Events like this that aim to create social awareness not only reinforce a sense of social responsibility but also positively support the rehabilitation process.”
