“Supporting the Sexual Development of Children for Mothers and Fathers Program” Successfully Completed

The “Supporting the Sexual Development of Children for Mothers and Fathers Program”, conducted in collaboration with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Ministry Drug Enforcement Commission and Near East University Atatürk Faculty of Education, has been successfully completed. This 10-week program aimed to increase parents’ awareness of sexual education, improve their understanding of their children’s developmental processes, and enhance healthy communication within families.

The program targeted parents of children aged 48-72 months. Pre-tests showed a low level of knowledge about sexual education, but by the end of the program, a significant improvement was observed in parents’ attitudes toward sexual education and their communication skills with their children.

The study, led by Hulin Sıddık, a doctoral student from Near East University, was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Umut Akçıl and Prof. Dr. Filiz Erbay. The researchers highlighted the program’s importance in preventing future challenges in children’s sexual development.
