Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals and Cross-Sectoral Collaboration

Under the leadership of the Social Research and Development Center and organized jointly by Near East University and Girne University under the Center of Excellence, the “Symposium on Sustainable Development Goals and Cross-Sectoral Collaboration” was successfully held. The event brought together academics, industry leaders, and students to discuss the importance of sustainability in fostering economic and social progress.

The symposium, supported by Enver Mamülcü, President of the Turkish Cypriot Business People Association (İŞAD), and Yeşim Çıraklı, President of the Women Entrepreneurs’ Cooperative, served as a platform to bridge academia and the business world. The event provided students with vital insights into the principles of sustainable development, production economics, and global business trends.

In his keynote address, Enver Mamülcü highlighted the essential role of collaboration between sectors in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He emphasized that fostering innovation and entrepreneurship can play a pivotal role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and resource management. Yeşim Çıraklı also underlined the importance of women-led initiatives and cooperatives in driving sustainable development.

The event concluded with speeches from distinguished academics, including Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay, Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay, and Prof. Dr. Gökmen Doğlı, who emphasized the need for interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex global issues.
