The “Barrier-Free Kitchen Workshop” Organized In Cooperation With The Near East University And The Turkish Cypriot Orthopedically Disabled Association

The “Barrier-Free Kitchen Workshop,” a collaborative effort between the Near East University Tourism Research Center, Social Research and Development Center, and the Turkish Cypriot Orthopedically Disabled Association, recently convened with enthusiastic participation. Attended by members of various age groups from the association, along with students and faculty members from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at the Faculty of Tourism of Near East University, the workshop aimed to empower disabled individuals in the kitchen.

Participants received practical insights and techniques to facilitate a barrier-free kitchen experience, exchanging information on tailored solutions and adaptations to meet specific needs. This initiative marked a significant stride in promoting awareness of disabled individuals’ capacity to engage in culinary activities and social integration.

Prof. Dr. Nesrin Menemenci Bahçelerli expressed commitment to furthering such impactful endeavors, stating, “We will continue to engage in projects that resonate with society and enhance quality of life.” Emphasizing Near East University’s dedication to holistic education and societal well-being, Prof. Dr. Bahçelerli underscored the importance of initiatives addressing the challenges encountered by disabled individuals, fostering independence and societal inclusion.
