Researchers from Near East University have conducted a study at Sulaimani Polytechnic University, shedding light on the crucial role of intellectual capital in driving organizational innovation. The research, spanning 392 participants, utilized a combination of descriptive and quantitative methodologies, employing SPSS 22 software for analysis. The findings underscore a positive and statistically significant impact of intellectual capital and its components on organizational innovation, emphasizing the intrinsic link between knowledge economies, intellectual capital, and competitive advantage.

The study breaks new ground by exploring correlations and causal effects between human capital, structural capital, relational capital, and both radical and incremental innovation within the organization. The results indicate a strong relationship between these variables, showcasing the direct influence of intellectual capital on the innovative capabilities of institutions.

In the context of Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) – Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all, this research holds significant implications. The findings emphasize the need for organizations, including educational institutions, to create environments conducive to generating creative and innovative ideas. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of investing in intellectual capital to achieve competitive excellence and foster sustainable growth.

The recommendations derived from the research align with SDG 8, calling for collaborative efforts, capacity-building initiatives, and the establishment of innovative strategies within educational institutions. The study suggests promoting a democratic spirit within universities, encouraging open communication, and fostering partnerships with foreign institutions to enhance knowledge dissemination and innovation.
