The renowned book “Small Animal Internal Medicine,” authored by Richard W. Nelson and C. Guillermo Couto, and considered an important resource in veterinary medicine education, has been successfully translated into Turkish. The Turkish translation, titled “Small Animal Internal Diseases,” was spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş, the Dean of Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and carried out in collaboration with Elsevier, a globally esteemed medical publishing house. The 1,600-page volume is now available to students at the Near East University Grand Library.

Under the expert editorship of Prof. Dr. Deniz Seyrek İntaş, and with the support of Assist. Prof. Dr. M. Ege İnce, Günhan Arel Saydam meticulously translated the book while maintaining its original design. Prof. Dr. Seyrek İntaş highlighted the book’s significance, stating, “It serves as a bedside companion for both veterinarians and students, offering a fluent and easily comprehensible language along with rich visuals. Covering a spectrum from diagnosis to treatment, it proves to be an invaluable resource for those engaged in the field of Internal Diseases.”

Expressing the importance of English as the universal language of science, Prof. Dr. Seyrek İntaş emphasized the need to increase Turkish resources. Acknowledging that many cutting-edge resources are available primarily in English, she stated, “We are undertaking efforts to enhance Turkish resources. It is gratifying to have translated this significant work in veterinary medicine into Turkish, contributing to the accessibility of knowledge for a wider audience in our native language.”
