The “Workshop on Problems Encountered in Teaching Turkish to Foreigners,” organized in collaboration with various Turkish institutions, showcased a collective effort to address challenges in language education. Facilitated by Near East University faculty members, the three-day workshop brought together teachers and academicians to discuss and propose solutions for issues encountered in teaching Turkish to foreigners at different education levels.

Sustainability in language education was subtly implied through the workshop’s collaborative nature. The emphasis on identifying challenges and proposing solutions aligns with the sustainability principle of addressing issues proactively for long-term impact. By fostering partnerships between academic institutions and governmental bodies, the workshop demonstrated a collective commitment to finding sustainable solutions to language education challenges.

Moreover, the workshop’s consideration of challenges faced by immigrant families in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus highlighted the social and cultural dimensions of migration. The acknowledgment of increasing migration and the responsibility to provide language education to the children of immigrant families underscores the need for sustainable policies that consider the long-term well-being and integration of diverse communities.

The statements from workshop participants, including the President of the Turkish Language Association and officials from the Ministry of National Education, underscored the importance of language education not just for integration but also for fostering cultural understanding. Their commitment to promoting language and culture correctly, without assimilation, aligns with sustainability principles of respecting cultural diversity and promoting inclusive practices.

In essence, the workshop on teaching Turkish to foreigners showcased a holistic approach to language education, incorporating sustainability through collaborative efforts, proactive problem-solving, and a consideration for the social and cultural aspects of migration. The commitment to finding sustainable solutions indicates a collective vision for a linguistically and culturally inclusive future
