Near East University’s DESAM Research Institute and Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center, in collaboration with YogaKioo Institute Cyprus, organized a “Yoga Workshop” during the “Children with Leukemia Week” to raise awareness and support affected children. The event, led by Prof. Dr. Pınar Tulay, attracted 57 participants, and all proceeds were donated to the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation.
Childhood leukemia, a common and challenging cancer, necessitates long-term treatment. The workshop aimed not only to generate funds but also to emphasize the importance of providing psychological support, education, and social assistance to the 76 children currently undergoing leukemia treatment in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), according to the Kemal Saraçoğlu Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer Foundation.
Prof. Dr. Pınar Tulay highlighted the significance of supporting children with leukemia and their families during their difficult journey. The funds raised were dedicated to addressing the needs of these children, contributing to both financial and awareness aspects of their battle against leukemia. Prof. Dr. Tulay expressed gratitude to the event organizers, including Near East University DESAM Research Institute, Genetics and Cancer Diagnosis-Research Center, and YogaKioo Institute Cyprus, for their valuable contributions.
The initiative not only served as a means to provide financial aid but also aimed to shed light on the challenges faced by children with leukemia, emphasizing the importance of societal and institutional responsibility in supporting these young patients and their families.
