The Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Near East University recently organized a panel on “Youth, Peace, and Security,” examining the role of young individuals in addressing global peace and security issues. The event delved into the potential contributions of the younger generation, their ability to identify challenges, and their involvement in finding solutions to these critical global concerns.
During the panel, Dr. Cihan Dizdaroğlu, a Lecturer from Başkent University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations, emphasized the significance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 in 2015. He highlighted the importance of engaging young people in peace-building processes and implementing inclusive policies that foster reconciliation and sustainable peace. Drawing upon international examples and data, Dr. Dizdaroğlu shed light on the impactful roles played by young individuals in areas concerning peace and security.
Expressing the university’s commitment to nurturing diverse perspectives, Prof. Dr. Şerife Z. Eyüpoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, highlighted the value of the “Youth, Peace, and Security” panel. She affirmed the institution’s dedication to organizing more such events to raise awareness and broaden perspectives among students.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nur Köprülü, Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, noted the active engagement of students from various global backgrounds studying disciplines such as Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, and Business. These panels serve as platforms for undergraduate and graduate students to expand their academic insights by participating in discussions and sharing viewpoints on peace and security matters.
