“1st Symposium on New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Emergency Aid and Disaster Management” Held at NEU

The “1st Symposium on New Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Emergency Aid and Disaster Management” was held online on May 17, 2024, organized by the Near East University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Emergency Aid and Disaster Management. The Honorary Chair of the symposium was Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz Özgören, while the Symposium Chair was Uzm. Dr. Murat Çetin.

The event featured three panels. In the “Artificial Intelligence in Disasters” panel, Assoc. Prof. Göksu Bozdereli Berikol discussed “The Role of AI in Disaster Triage,” and Assoc. Prof. Fatih Doğanay presented “AI Applications in Disaster Risk Management.” The “Innovations and Technologies in Disasters” panel explored “Tools for Disaster Preparedness Assessment” by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Ali Karaca and “Digital Technologies in Disasters” by Dr. Nurcan Bıçakçı. The final panel, “Future of Disasters,” included “What Will We Use in the Future of Disasters?” by Assoc. Prof. Buğra İlhan and “Are Digital Hospitals and Emergency Services Far Away?” by Assoc. Prof. Bülent Erbil.
