The session featured expert speakers Mehdi Seraj and Mumtaz Ali, who delved into the critical role of green finance in promoting sustainability and addressing pressing environmental challenges.
The webinar focused on the alignment of green finance with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goals related to clean energy, sustainable industry, and climate action. Seraj and Ali explained how green finance enables investments in renewable energy projects, such as solar, wind, and hydropower, which are essential for reducing reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating climate change.
Furthermore, the speakers highlighted the importance of financing sustainable industries and infrastructure, including smart cities and energy-efficient transportation systems, which play a key role in reducing urban carbon footprints. They also discussed how green finance supports initiatives like carbon capture, reforestation, and climate resilience projects, which are vital for combating climate change and enhancing environmental resilience.
