The “2nd National Sexuality and Sexual Health Symposium,” organized by the Near East University Student Dean’s Office Sexual Health Services Unit, took place at the İrfan Günsel Congress Center. The full-day event brought together leading academics, physicians, and healthcare professionals from Türkiye and the TRNC.
The symposium was chaired by Prof. Dr. Dudu Özkum Yavuz, Dean of Students at Near East University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Sarpkaya Güder, Head of the Sexual Health Services Unit and lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing.
The second session, titled “Protecting and Promoting Sexual Health in Adulthood,” was chaired by Prof. Dr. Adile Öniz Özgören, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Near East University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tijen Ataçağ from Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital. Speakers included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meryem Karaaziz (Near East University), Dr. Batuhan Dericioğlu (Cyprus International University), Asst. Prof. Dr. Nezire İnce (Eastern Mediterranean University), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Sarpkaya Güder.
The final session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Özen Aşut (Near East University Faculty of Medicine) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Özlem Akalpler (Near East University Hospital), featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Ayten Şentürk Erenel (Gazi University) and Prof. Dr. Şanda Çalı (Near East University Faculty of Medicine) on preventing sexually transmitted infections.
