“Olive Producer Meetings” organized by the Faculty of Agriculture’s Department of Food Engineering and the İrfan Günsel Research Center, bringing together olive producers and agricultural experts to discuss strategies for improving olive diversity and productivity. The event featured opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and included presentations by Dr. Mehmet Güler, President of the Adana Olive Production and Marketing Cooperative, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Şebnem Güler from Near East University.
Discussions focused on olive pollination biology, fertilization, and cultivation practices, as well as the genetic and physiological characteristics of Northern Cyprus olive varieties. Participants gained insights into optimizing pollinator selection, soil management, and care techniques to improve yield, highlighting the importance of integrating scientific research with sustainable agricultural practices.
