HIV/AIDS Awareness and Scientific Innovation Symposium

The “New Hopes for Treatment” Awareness Days, organized jointly by Near East University and Kocaeli University, brought together leading experts to discuss the latest scientific developments in HIV/AIDS research and treatment. Hosted by Near East University, one of the world’s top 500 universities, the two-day event focused on the global impact of HIV/AIDS, innovations in treatment, and evidence-based strategies in disease management.

Coordinated by Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ and Prof. Dr. Sıla Akhan, the program featured nine scientific sessions. Presentations covered HIV pathogenesis, viral subtypes and drug resistance, vaccination practices for people living with HIV, and current challenges in vaccine research. Clinical case discussions addressed cardiovascular, metabolic, neurological, and ocular complications linked to HIV, as well as pregnancy management. Young researchers also contributed evaluations of complex clinical cases. The event concluded with expert discussions on aging with HIV and the mathematical modeling of the pandemic, reinforcing its significance for scientific knowledge sharing and public health awareness.
