Students Bring Cyprus Traditional dish “Gollifa” to the Community

Students from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of the Faculty of Tourism at Near East University brought Cyprus’ traditional New Year dish, Gollifa, together with the public through a meaningful cultural event. Held at the Sharing Kitchen of Lefkoşa Türk Belediyesi, the event attracted strong participation. Students prepared and shared Gollifa with local citizens and shopkeepers from Bandabuliya, Büyük Han, and Arasta. Beyond showcasing culinary skills, the event aimed to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen social solidarity. Made with roasted wheat, raisins, almonds, sesame, and pomegranate seeds, Gollifa symbolized abundance, continuity, and the enduring tradition of sharing.
