The Digital Education and Informatics Unit (DEBIM) of Near East University, in collaboration with the Cyprus Turkish Association of the Orthopedically Disabled, organized an event titled “Awareness of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Disability Services.” The event focused on innovative AI-driven solutions and a strategic roadmap for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The event was attended by DEBIM Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Zehra Altınay, Information Technologies Chief Coordinator Prof. Dr. Fahriye Altınay, DEBIM Director Prof. Dr. Sezer Kanbul, academics from Near East University, coordinators from Distance Education and Information Technologies Center (UZEBIM) and members and representatives of the Cyprus Turkish Association of the Orthopedically Disabled.
Discussions highlighted AI applications in rehabilitation, orthotics and prosthetics, speech and language therapy, wearable technologies, vocational education, and humanoid robotics. The program also addressed practical steps for TRNC, including infrastructure development, pilot projects, large-scale implementation, web integration, and opportunities for international funding and collaboration.
