In line with its commitment to strengthening ethical governance and institutional integrity, Near East University has updated the structure of its Ethics Committee.
According to the decision taken at the University Executive Board (ÜYK) meeting held on 12 March 2025, Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy has been appointed as the Chair of the Ethics Committee. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Hürsen, Prof. Dr. Pınar Tülay, Prof. Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz, and Prof. Dr. Nur Köprülü have been appointed as members of the Committee, subject to Rector’s approval.
The Ethics Committee operates under the authority of the Rectorate and is responsible for overseeing ethical compliance across the University. The Committee evaluates ethical issues related to research activities, academic conduct, and institutional practices, and provides guidance to ensure that all processes are carried out in accordance with established ethical standards.a
In addition, the Committee contributes to the development and implementation of institutional policies related to ethics, supports transparency and accountability, and plays an active role in fostering an ethical organisational culture across the University.
Through its structured governance role, the Ethics Committee ensures that ethical principles are embedded in decision-making processes and continuously monitored and improved.
