Advancing Infertility Treatment Through Sustainable Stem Cell Research

Prof. Dr. H. Seda Vatansever, a key figure at Near East University’s DESAM Research Institute, is pioneering a project in collaboration with the Turkish Health Institutes Presidency (TÜSEB) that holds promising implications for sustainable infertility treatment. Focused on enhancing the quality of female egg cells, the project, titled “Investigation of the Presence of LINE-1, Orf1 and FTO in Mesenchymal Stem Cell Derived Exosomes Supporting In Vitro Oocyte Maturation,” explores the use of stem cells obtained from embryonic connective tissue cells.

Infertility, a complex issue affecting many couples, often stems from factors related to the reproductive system, emphasizing the crucial role of oocyte (female egg cell) quality. Prof. Dr. Vatansever’s innovative approach involves investigating the effects of exosomes—small particles derived from adult stem cells—on oocyte quality and maturation. This sustainable method aims to provide a new horizon in infertility treatment.

Near East University Rector, Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, underscored the institution’s commitment to quality scientific research and highlighted the importance of support from prestigious institutions like TÜSEB. The collaboration signifies recognition of the project’s potential to contribute significantly to scientific advancement and address a pressing societal issue.

Prof. Dr. Vatansever expressed confidence that the project’s outcomes will not only advance infertility treatment but also pave the way for sustainable practices in reproductive healthcare. The research aligns with broader sustainability goals by utilizing innovative methods in healthcare that may offer long-term benefits and contribute to the well-being of individuals and society as a whole.
