Near East University has successfully completed a six-month “Turkish as a Foreign Language” program for immigrant and refugee students in collaboration with Democracy Secondary School. The initiative was designed to strengthen students’ Turkish language skills and facilitate their adaptation to both educational and social life. The program was delivered twice a week on a voluntary basis by students from Near East University’s Turkish Language Teaching Department, providing participants with accessible language education and practical learning opportunities.Organized through the collaboration of the Turkish Language Teaching Department, Turkish Preparatory School, and Democracy Secondary School, the program was delivered twice a week on a voluntary basis by prospective teachers Yekda Umut Kösen, Irmak Kuzukesen, İrem Nisa Gül, and Berivan Doğan.

The project also contributed to the social integration of immigrant and refugee students by helping them communicate more effectively within their educational and social environments. Following the successful completion of the program, certificates were presented to participating students, faculty members, and prospective teachers at a ceremony held at Democracy Secondary School.The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yeniasır, Prof. Dr. Burak Gökbulut, Dr. Tülay Kaya Tekman, and Democracy Secondary School Principal Ali Çoban.
