Politics, Security, and Peace Initiatives in the Middle East were Discussed at The ‘Changing Politics and Security Environment in the Middle East’ Conference

The conference titled “Changing Politics and Security Environment in the Middle East” organized by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Near East University brought together experts in the field to discuss the dynamics of the region.

Hosted by Dr. Sait Akşit, the Head of the Department of International Relations at Near East University, the conference delved into various dimensions of the current developments in the Middle East. Notable discussions revolved around the ramifications of the Israel-Palestine conflict on the region, emphasizing the necessity for a paradigm shift both politically and economically to advance the peace process.

Dr. Tuğçe Ersoy Ceylan from İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University presented on “Israel’s Security Issues and Regional

Relations Post October 7th,” while Dr. A. Ömür Atmaca from Hacettepe University addressed “Palestinian Security and Foreign Policy Post-Gaza War: Challenges and Expectations.” Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nur Köprülü from Near East University explored “The Reflections of the Changing Regional Politics in the Middle East Before and After the Gaza War,” and Dr. Özüm S. Uzun, the Director of Urla International Studies Institute, examined “The Effects of the Gaza War on Iran’s Security and Foreign Policy.” Lastly, Prof. Dr. Özlem Tür from Middle East Technical University presented on “Turkey and the Gaza War: Challenges and Opportunities for Regional Relations.
