The Near East University collaborated with Wageningen University in the Netherlands, hosting Dr. Rieta Gols, a distinguished scientist in chemical ecology. The seminar focused on “Plant-host parasitoid interactions mediated by chemical ecology and abiotic factors.” Over two years of collaboration, Dr. Gols and Near East University academicians, led by Prof. Dr. Özge Özden, have worked on ecological research regarding agricultural ecosystems and biodiversity in Cyprus.
Their joint study, titled “Different agricultural ecosystems and biological diversity in Cyprus,” specifically explores the impact of irrigation methods on butterfly diversity and abundance. This research, emphasizing the vital role of irrigation in Mediterranean basin countries, is slated for publication in an international scientific journal, contributing valuable insights to the global scientific community.
