Near East University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Management, recently hosted a significant event centered around the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Titled “The UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals,” the event was part of the university’s ongoing Sustainability Meetings initiative.

Led by faculty members Dr. Ayşe Hyusein and Dr. Özlem Ercantan, the event aimed to underscore the importance of effectively utilizing the SDGs and raising awareness about these critical global objectives. As the third installment of the “Sustainability Meetings” webinar series, it provided a platform to delve into the universal goals set forth by the UN General Assembly in 2015.

During the online presentation, Dr. Hyusein and Dr. Ercantan discussed key aspects of the SDGs, including eradicating poverty, safeguarding the environment, tackling climate change, promoting equitable wealth distribution, and fostering peace. Their insightful analysis shed light on the necessity of concerted efforts to achieve these ambitious targets.

Professor Şerife Eyüpoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Chair of the Department of Management, emphasized the significance of collaborative endeavors towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing scientific activities aimed at addressing global challenges.
